The Las Vegas Aces superstar continues to add to one of the most impressive résumés in WNBA history.
A’ja Wilson has done it again.
The Las Vegas Aces star was named the 2026 Kia WNBA Most Valuable Player on Thursday, giving her a record fifth MVP award in her career.
And this one comes with another piece of history.
Wilson becomes the first player in WNBA history to win three consecutive MVP awards, adding the 2026 honor to the awards she won in 2024 and 2025.
She previously won MVP in 2020 and 2022.
At this point, Wilson’s trophy case is becoming difficult to keep track of.
Another Dominant Season
Wilson’s latest MVP season was hardly a down year.
She averaged 26.2 points, 9.4 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game, while also averaging 1.4 steals and 1.9 blocks.
Her 26.2 points per game led the WNBA and represented the second-highest scoring average in league history. The only higher mark belongs to Wilson herself, who averaged 26.9 points per game in 2024.
She also led the league in blocks and win shares for the third consecutive season.
The numbers help explain why Wilson continues to separate herself from the rest of the league.
She isn’t simply producing points. She remains one of the WNBA’s most impactful defensive players while carrying a major offensive workload for Las Vegas.
Five MVPs and Counting
Wilson’s fifth MVP puts her in rare company across professional basketball.
She is now the only WNBA player with five regular-season MVP awards.
The accomplishment also places her alongside some of the most decorated MVP winners in WNBA and NBA history. Only Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Michael Jordan and Bill Russell have also reached at least five MVP awards across the two leagues.
And Wilson accomplished it before turning 31.
Her MVP résumé now reads:
- 2020
- 2022
- 2024
- 2025
- 2026
Three of those awards have now come consecutively.
The Aces Continue to Follow Her Lead
Wilson helped lead Las Vegas to a 31-13 regular-season record and the No. 3 seed in the 2026 playoffs.
The Aces have become one of the defining teams of the current WNBA era, and Wilson has been at the center of that success.
She is also a three-time WNBA champion, with championship runs in 2022, 2023 and 2025. She was named Finals MVP in 2023 and 2025.
So while the regular-season MVP award is another individual accomplishment, it also adds to a résumé built around winning.
The Standard Keeps Moving
There was a time when winning four MVP awards seemed almost unimaginable.
Wilson changed that.
Now she has five.
The bigger question isn’t whether Wilson has established herself among the greatest players in WNBA history. Her résumé has already made that conversation unavoidable.
The question is how much further she can take it.
At 30 years old, Wilson is still adding major accomplishments to a career that already includes five MVPs, three championships, two Finals MVPs, multiple Defensive Player of the Year awards and numerous All-WNBA selections.
And now, another piece of history belongs to her.
A’ja Wilson is the 2026 WNBA MVP—and for the fifth time, the league’s most valuable player resides in Las Vegas.
